Integrating Communications and Fundraising

Case Study:

Benthyg Cymru is a not for profit that supports a network of communities to help them develop a Library of Things model that works for them. Benthyg (ben-thig) means to borrow or lend in Welsh, and a Library of Things is just like a book library but for things that you don't use very often, don't have space for or can't afford. Items available to borrow include gardening and DIY tools, camping equipment and much more. Each library has its own set of things to borrow, all available at less than you'd expect to pay second hand and with the opportunity to pay with time instead of money.

I've been working with Benthyg for the past 8 months, and they're lovely. We've been researching and developing income streams from scratch for both the central membership organisation and for the network members. Together we're exploring individual giving, corporate partnerships and Trusts & Foundations. Alongside this we’re developing a communications that reinforces the fundraising ask, as well as ensuring that full cost recovery is built into every funding application.
